A new theory about Squid Game Season 2 suggests a major spoiler about the relationship between the Front Man and the Old Man.
In Season 2, the story explores the Front Man’s past after he joined the games. He entered as Player 001, the same number used by Oh Il-nam (the old man) in Season 1.
Fans have spotted a possible link between the Front Man and Oh Il-nam. The theory suggests that the Front Man could be the son of Oh Il-nam.
In Season 1, Oh Il-nam, also known as Player 001, forms a strong bond with Seong Gi-hun (Player 456). During a break, Gi-hun refuses to drink milk, revealing that he is lactose intolerant. Oh Il-nam notices and says, “You’re just like my son.”
In the Season 1 finale, it’s revealed that Oh Il-nam is the creator of the games.
This milk connection appears again in Season 2. The Front Man, disguised as Young-il, gives milk to Kim Jun-hee (Player 222), who is pregnant.
He also cannot drink regular milk. This has led some fans to believe the Front Man might be Oh Il-nam’s son.
Squid Game is full of twists, and fans are closely examining every line. In-ho, the Front Man, is also the brother of Detective Jun-ho, who investigates the game. In Season 2, we learn that In-ho was a police officer who lost his wife and job, leading him to join the games.
If In-ho is Il-nam’s son, it could explain why the Front Man is present when Il-nam reveals the truth to Gi-hun on his deathbed in Season 1.
However, there is still little known about In-ho and Jun-ho’s father, so it is possible that Il-nam is not actually In-ho’s father.
After winning the games in 2015, Il-nam might have told In-ho the truth, convincing him to become the Front Man by showing him that humanity is beyond saving.
There is still uncertainty, though, as In-ho could have resented Il-nam for failing to save his wife, despite having the resources to do so. Il-nam may have manipulated In-ho, using greed to blind him and push him further away from his moral compass.
The truth about In-ho’s connection to Oh Il-nam may be revealed in Squid Game Season 3. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how this theory plays out.
