Sony has introduced the Xyn, an extended reality (XR) headset designed for creating 3D objects for films, animation, and video games.

The headset, first teased at CES last year, features 4K OLED displays, video passthrough, and compatibility with third-party design, modeling, and production software.

The Xyn headset allows wearers to flip it up when not in use, though it no longer includes the ring and pointer system shown in previous teasers.

Alongside the headset, Sony revealed Xyn Motion Studio, a Windows app that supports up to 12 Mocopi sensors for motion tracking, commonly used by V-Tubers and creators to control virtual avatars. The app offers features like motion editing, trimming, and merging.

Sony also showcased a prototype “spatial capture solution” that transforms real-world images into photorealistic 3D assets using its proprietary algorithm.

While details about the headset’s full capabilities remain limited, Sony plans to release Xyn Motion Studio in March 202
