Google CEO Sundar Pichai has called for increased speed and focus as the company enters 2025, a pivotal year for artificial intelligence (AI).

In a December strategy meeting, Pichai urged employees to “stay scrappy” and emphasized the urgency of AI development to solve real user problems.

Despite legal challenges, including a recent antitrust case, Pichai stressed the importance of staying focused on innovation.

A key priority for 2025 is the AI-powered Gemini app, which Pichai believes will help Google lead in the AI space.

Demis Hassabis from DeepMind also highlighted the rapid evolution of Gemini in the coming years.

Google is also working on AI tools like a coding assistant, note-taking app, and multitasking Chrome extension.

Despite competition from OpenAI and others, Google’s vice president of search, Liz Reid, remains optimistic, emphasizing the need for more accessible search experiences.

In addition, Google made waves in quantum computing with the announcement of Willow, a new quantum chip that outperformed the best supercomputer in an advanced test, signaling progress in building scalable quantum computers.
