Apple had a busy year in 2024, introducing several new iPads alongside its other big launches like the iPhone lineup and Apple Intelligence.

The iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini all received upgrades, making them the center of attention during Apple’s key events this year.

The Highs of 2024

The iPad Pro stood out as Apple’s thinnest device ever. It introduced the powerful M4 chip and a stunning Tandem OLED display, making it a favorite for creative professionals. Its lightweight design and exceptional performance set a new standard for tablets.

The iPad Air also impressed, especially with its 13-inch version. It brought larger screens to a more affordable price range. Though it used the older M2 chip, it still delivered great value and versatility.

Apple also introduced the Apple Pencil Pro, which brought haptic feedback and advanced gestures, making it more intuitive for drawing and note-taking. This accessory worked seamlessly with the new iPads, including the iPad mini.

The iPad mini kept its compact form but received a major upgrade with the A17 Pro chip. This chip boosted performance and supported Apple Intelligence, making the mini more than just a note-taking tool.

The Lows of 2024

While Apple made strides with its Pro and Air models, the entry-level iPads (9th and 10th generations) remained unchanged. Many users hoped for upgrades, but these models were left out.

iPadOS 18 brought some useful features like Apple Intelligence and a cleaner Siri interface, but it still lacked a true desktop-class experience.

Multitasking improvements and better integration with other Apple devices are still on many users’ wish lists.

What to Expect in 2025

In 2025, Apple is expected to update the entry-level iPad with the 11th generation. Rumors suggest it will have a similar design to the iPad Air, a 10.9-inch Retina display, and a faster chip like the A17 Pro or A18.

The new iPadOS 19 might focus on better multitasking and deeper integration with Apple’s ecosystem. While major updates for the iPad Pro, Air, or mini seem unlikely next year, Apple could surprise fans with new features or accessories.

Apple’s iPads in 2024 delivered impressive advancements, especially for the Pro and Air models. However, the lack of updates for entry-level models and iPadOS limitations left room for improvement.

As we look forward to 2025, Apple has the chance to refine its lineup further and bring exciting updates for all users.
