Samsung has started rolling out satellite messaging support for some of its latest phones, including the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold 6, in the U.S.

This feature, which was initially expected to launch with the Galaxy S24, allows users to send and receive messages via satellite, ensuring communication even in areas without cellular coverage.

However, there’s a catch: the feature is currently only available to T-Mobile customers who have signed up for the T-Mobile Starlink service.

The satellite messaging service, which was first announced in August 2022, is still in beta. Users must have a postpaid account to participate, and registration for testing is now open.

To use the satellite messaging feature, users with supported devices can go to Settings > Connections > Satellite Networks to enable it.

Once activated, the feature allows users to send and receive texts in remote areas where there is no cellular network coverage.

While the T-Mobile Starlink service remains in beta, once fully launched, it will be available to any T-Mobile Android phone with LTE connectivity.

Samsung is not the only manufacturer integrating satellite messaging—Apple’s iPhone 14 series and newer models have supported this feature since their release.
