As the Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) fanbase continues to buzz with excitement over a possible trailer 2 release on December 27, 2024, an ex-Rockstar Games developer has weighed in with a different perspective.
Mike York, a former animator at Rockstar who worked on iconic titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, recently shared his thoughts on the growing theory. In a comment on his YouTube video, he stated:
“Nope, I donโt think the 27th will have anything announced by Rockstar. Odds are they are all taking Christmas break with family and friends enjoying some time off.”
York, who was with Rockstar from 2012 to 2017, seems to believe that fans’ expectations for GTA 6 news on December 27 may be misplaced, suggesting that the development team will likely be on holiday.
The Theory Behind December 27 Expectations
The fan theory that has been circulating online stems from a combination of clues that fans have pieced together.
The theory gained traction after a Rockstar developer’s post on X (formerly Twitter), which included a partially hidden note. Fans analyzed the note and speculated that it referenced a Florida hotel booking for December 27, 2024.
The theory took an even more intriguing turn when the number “27” led fans to a car dealership in Florida called 27 Auto Sales.
Fans noticed that a Waffle House near the dealership appeared similar to a building seen in GTA 6 leaks, further fueling the speculation.
Additionally, Rockstarโs Instagram account currently has exactly 27 posts, with one post being deleted on December 24, 2024, only to be replaced with a new Red Dead Online post, maintaining the count at 27.
This has added to the growing belief that something related to GTA 6 might be announced on December 27.
Taking the Theory with a Grain of Salt
While the theory is certainly compelling, itโs important to note that Mike York is not the only voice of reason in this situation.
Other fans have cautioned that the December 27 release date is purely speculative, and Rockstar Games has yet to confirm any details about the GTA 6 trailer 2.
As of now, fans should temper their expectations and consider the possibility that the December 27 hype might just be a coincidence, or a case of fans reading too much into the number 27.
In the meantime, the anticipation for GTA 6 remains high, with fans continuing to search for clues and hints about the next major update from Rockstar Games.
