Billionaire pop star Taylor Swift ruled the music scene in 2024, becoming the most-streamed artist globally.
With over 26.6 billion streams on Spotify, Swift topped the platform’s global artist list. Apple Music also named her as its No. 1 streamed artist.
Swift’s success didn’t stop at streaming. She also topped Billboard‘s list of top artists for the fourth time.
Her Eras Tour, which grossed over $2 billion, helped solidify her place as the wealthiest female musician with an estimated $1.6 billion net worth.
Despite Swift’s dominance, Drake and Kendrick Lamar also made waves in 2024. Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” was the most-streamed song on Apple Music, while Drake continued to be a major force in the R&B/hip-hop genre.
The ongoing feud between Lamar and Drake also fueled their success, with Lamar’s tracks earning around $15.4 million across streaming and sales.
On Spotify, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, and Billie Eilish rounded out the top five most-streamed artists, while Lamar was notably absent from the top 10.
On the song charts, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” were among the top hits globally.
Despite some user criticism of Spotify Wrapped, the platform’s year-end data, the streaming service continues to be a major player in the music industry, alongside Apple Music.
