Starting January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running KitKat or earlier versions.

This change is due to the increasing demands of the app’s new features, including AI functionalities, which require more powerful hardware.

Some of the affected models include the Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Moto G (1st Gen), and HTC One X.

For iPhone users, support will end in May 2025 for devices running iOS versions older than 15.1.

Users with older phones are advised to back up their WhatsApp data before the deadline to avoid losing media and chat history.

The move to discontinue support for older devices reflects the fast pace of technological advancement, with newer devices required to ensure smooth performance and access to the latest app features.
