Snapchat’s New Revenue Program: How Creators Can Earn More

SnapChat App

Snapchat is changing how influencers earn money on its platform. The company is introducing a unified monetization program for Stories and Spotlight, its TikTok-like video feed.

Under the new program, creators will earn revenue from ads placed in eligible Stories and Spotlight posts. Previously, Snapchat handled Stories and Spotlight earnings separately.

The program is currently in testing with a small group of users. It will roll out widely on February 1, 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

To join the program, creators must meet these requirements:

  • 10 million Snap views, 1 million Spotlight views, or 12,000 watch hours in the last 28 days
  • Consistent posting: At least 25 posts per month and activity on 10 of the last 28 days

These new benchmarks are much higher than the previous rules. Earlier, creators only needed a public profile, 1,000 followers, and 10,000 video views to earn money through Spotlight.

Why the Change?

Snapchat’s update comes as other platforms like TikTok and YouTube also tweak their creator programs. TikTok now requires videos to be over one minute to earn revenue. YouTube allows Shorts creators to make money through ad revenue.

Snapchat’s move aims to simplify earnings for creators and encourage more content on Stories and Spotlight.

The program starts globally in February, so creators will need to prepare for the new rules.
