Netflix and Duolingo are teaming up for an unexpected collaboration ahead of Squid Game Season 2.

Together, they’ve launched a campaign called “Learn Korean or Else,” aiming to help fans immerse themselves in the world of the hit show by learning key Korean phrases.

Duo, Duolingo’s infamous green owl, is taking things up a notch—donning a Squid Game-inspired pink jumpsuit to encourage users to take their Korean lessons seriously.

With over 40 phrases and keywords integrated into Duolingo’s app, including “Trust no one,” “Let’s play a game,” and “You’ve been eliminated,” fans now have a chance to learn while connecting with the series.

What Is the “Learn Korean or Else” Campaign?

As part of the campaign, Duolingo’s mascot will appear in ads on Netflix’s ad-supported tier, at fan events, and even on billboards, all in his new Squid Game uniform.

According to Magno Herran, Netflix’s VP of Partner and Brand Marketing, this collaboration highlights the “shared traits” between Duo and the show’s Pink Guards—both are equally determined and slightly terrifying.

The new Korean lessons will integrate these Squid Game phrases into regular learning sessions. So while you’re picking up useful vocabulary, you’ll also have a bit of fun diving into the world of Squid Game.

Why This Campaign Matters

Netflix’s push for global content like Squid Game has opened doors for fans to explore new languages and cultures. This collaboration with Duolingo takes it further by connecting entertainment with education. Fans can now go beyond watching subtitles or dubbed audio to learning the language of the show itself.

And if you’re worried about keeping up with Duo’s infamous streak reminders—well, you might want to stay on top of your lessons. After all, this campaign isn’t just about learning; it’s about surviving (your streak).

With Squid Game Season 2 on the horizon, fans now have an exciting way to prepare. Whether you’re picking up Korean phrases or diving into Netflix’s improved dubbing options, the choice is yours—just don’t let Duo catch you slacking.

Stay tuned for the return of one of Netflix’s most thrilling shows and a unique opportunity to learn Korean like never before.
