Google is preparing to launch a new “Clear voice” feature in its Pixel Recorder app, aimed at improving audio clarity during recordings. The feature, which reduces background noise while preserving human speech, is set to enhance the quality of voice playback.
As per the latest APK insights, the “Clear voice” feature works by isolating human speech and removing background sounds.
However, it will only function with the phone’s internal microphone and Mono audio, meaning external microphones and stereo sound are not supported. Users will need to switch their audio settings to mono for the feature to work.
Although the feature is not yet available after sideloading the latest version of Pixel Recorder, it’s expected to be activated via a server-side update.
This addition comes after several updates to Pixel Recorder, including the ability for the app’s Summarize feature to handle longer transcripts, thanks to the integration of Gemini Nano with Multimodality on the Pixel 9 series.
Another significant update saw the app arrive on the Pixel Watch 3, allowing users to record directly from their wrist.
