Bluesky to Expand Moderation Team Amid Surge in Users

Bluesky, a decentralized social media platform, will increase its moderation team from 25 to 100 to manage a growing influx of users, many of whom are leaving X (formerly Twitter).

The platform now boasts over 20 million users, while X’s user base has dropped by 6%.

Bluesky’s Aaron Rodericks, former Twitter Trust and Safety co-lead, said the platform is prioritising safety by exceeding legal moderation requirements.

The expansion will address the rising volume of harmful content, though the platform recently faced criticism for over-enforcing some policies, such as child safety, leading to temporary suspensions.

Founded by Jack Dorsey in 2021, Bluesky has become a popular alternative to X, drawing users seeking a more customised, chronological feed.
