Brazil’s antitrust authority, Cade, has mandated Apple to lift all restrictions on in-app purchases, giving the company 20 days to comply.
Failing to do so will result in a daily fine of $43,000.
The ruling follows a 2022 complaint by Mercado Libre, accusing Apple of anti-competitive practices.
The decision requires Apple to permit developers to either link to external payment platforms or manage payments independently within apps.
Similar rulings have occurred in the US, EU, South Korea, and Japan, where Apple was also compelled to support third-party payment systems.
