Apple Plans Advanced Display Technology for Future iPhones

Apple is working on a new screen technology called LTPO+ for its high-end iPhones coming in 2026. The technology would appear in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, according to industry analysts at Omdia.

LTPO+ aims to be more power-efficient than current LTPO screens. However, the technology does not exist yet and needs to be developed.

Currently, Apple uses two types of screens in its iPhones. Regular iPhones use LTPS displays, while Pro models use more advanced LTPO screens that allow for smoother 120Hz refresh rates and better power efficiency.

Samsung and LG, Apple’s main screen suppliers, would need to create new production lines for LTPO+ displays. This could cost billions of dollars. If the companies hesitate to invest, like Samsung did with tablet screens recently, the new technology might face delays.

The timing is uncertain because all iPhone 17 models next year will already use LTPO screens. This means Apple needs a new feature to set its Pro models apart in 2026.

These plans are not confirmed, and the technology’s development faces several challenges. More information is needed to understand how LTPO+ will improve upon current iPhone displays.
