Spammers Are Abusing Spotify Playlists to Promote Pirate Content

Spotify is being exploited by spammers to promote pirated content through playlists and podcasts.

These pages are easily indexed by search engines, making them prime targets for illegal links.

Spammers inject keywords like “Sony Vegas Pro 13 Crack” or “free download” into playlists and podcast titles to direct users to pirate websites.

Google indexes these Spotify pages, often ranking them high in search results.

Some spam podcasts are only a few seconds long and offer free downloads of books or games. Despite Spotify’s rules against this, many of these links remain on the platform. Third-party hosts like Firstory are struggling to filter out malicious content.

Spotify is aware of the issue but continues to face challenges in preventing spam and piracy across its platform.
