ESPN Tests AI Avatar for Football Data and Fun

ESPN AI Avatar - FACTS

ESPN is testing a generative AI avatar named FACTS, designed to enhance the SEC Nation show.

The AI bot will provide analysis and commentary based on ESPN Analytics, drawing from data like the Football Power Index (FPI), player stats, and game schedules.

Although still in development, FACTS aims to “complement” the human hosts, promoting sports education and fun.

The avatar is powered by Nvidia’s ACE, Azure OpenAI, and ElevenLabs for its language and speech capabilities.

ESPN clarifies that FACTS is not meant to replace human talent but to innovate the use of sports data in an engaging way.
