Google is working on a new feature called “Shield Email” for Gmail users. The feature has been spotted in the latest Gmail Android app code, according to Android Authority.
How it will work:
- Users can create temporary email addresses
- Emails sent to temporary addresses forward to main Gmail inbox
- Multiple shield addresses possible at once
- Only incoming emails will be allowed, not outgoing
This service would help users manage unwanted emails better. Instead of giving out their real email address, users could provide a temporary one. If spam becomes a problem, they can simply delete the temporary address.
The feature is still in development and hasn’t been officially announced by Google. It would compete with existing temporary email services, but with the advantage of Gmail’s security and reliability.
This addition could help Gmail users better protect their privacy and manage their inbox more effectively. The launch date has not been announced yet.
