Indonesia has banned the sale of Google Pixel phones, following a similar ban on Apple’s iPhone 16, due to non-compliance with local content regulations.
Both companies failed to meet the requirement of having at leastย 40% locally sourced componentsย in their devices.
The Indonesian Ministry of Industry stated that until these conditions are met, sales will be blocked. This move aims to encourage foreign tech companies to invest more in local manufacturing and development.ย
While consumers can still import Pixel phones legally, illicit sales may lead to device deactivation.
