XXL magazine has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 Freshman Class, shining a spotlight on 11 up-and-coming rappers poised to make their mark on the hip-hop scene.
The class features a diverse array of talents, including a “tongue-twisting rhymer from Texas, a Brooklyn Don, the coldest out of Detroit, a Florida slick-talker, two of Dallas’ top contenders, a Philadelphia fly girl, a sexy drill general, Atlanta’s ladies’ man, an animated Bronx MC, and Boston’s mesmerizing voice.”

Lay Bankz, a Philadelphia-based rapper, expressed her excitement and the significance of being selected, stating, “Being on the cover (is) a big deal for me (because) of the history in female rap in Philly. There’s sooo much talent in Philly that goes unnoticed, and I really hope to break down those barriers.”
Other artists like ScarLip, That Mexican OT, and BigXthaPlug also acknowledged their inclusion on the prestigious list, with BigXthaPlug exclaiming, “AIN’T (NONE) BIGGER‼️”Over the next month, XXL will release exclusive content featuring the 2024 Freshman Class, including freestyles, cyphers, and interviews. Producer Southside of 808 Mafia has created the beats for this year’s highly anticipated cyphers.
The 2024 XXL Freshman Class follows in the footsteps of last year’s group, which included artists like Finesse2tymes, Lola Brooke, GloRilla, Central Cee, and Real Boston Richey.
