Popular YouTubers Dan Howell (danisnotonfire) and Phil Lester (AmazingPhil) have revealed that they have been in a relationship for 16 years.
The pair started their YouTube channels in 2009, filming comedy clips and gaming videos from their shared London flat. Over the years, they grew a huge online following and became Radio 1 presenters, hosting shows like the Sunday night request show in 2013 and The Internet Takeover until 2016.
They have also toured globally, with their most recent stage show, Terrible Influence, concluding earlier this year.
In a new YouTube video on their joint channel, the duo addressed long-standing rumors, asking, “Are Dan and Phil in a relationship?” Both answered “yes.”
Howell explained, “We fell into it hard and fast in 2009 and here we are almost 16 years later.” Lester added, “It was so fast that we never labeled it. We just ended up living together and here we are.”
They also acknowledged that their relationship is not perfect. Lester said, “Don’t get it into your head that we are the ideal of human partnerships,” and Howell added, “We have had ups and downs like anybody. We have lived a thousand lifetimes of a normal person’s partnership and I have no idea why we’ve survived.”
The video was posted 12 hours ago and has already received nearly 1.5 million views. Fans took to the comments to celebrate, with reactions ranging from humor to admiration for their long-standing partnership.
