Fans of Netflix’s biggest movie ever need to calm down. The creator of KPop Demon Hunters has confirmed a sequel is coming. But she says you will be waiting a long time.
Maggie Kang created the animated hit. She told the Mishal Husain Show that a follow-up is definitely in the works. However, she warned fans it is “gonna be a long wait” because animation simply takes forever.
The film became Netflix’s most-streamed movie of all time. It racked up more than half a billion views by the end of 2025. The movie follows a K-pop girl group who slay demons by night.
The soundtrack also dominated the charts. It hit number two on Spotify’s most-streamed albums list for 2025. Only Bad Bunny’s album beat it.
The movie is having a massive awards season. It scored two Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. It already won a Grammy and two Golden Globes.
Netflix has finalized a deal with Sony Pictures Animation for a second film. They have not announced a release date yet. Kang said she cannot wait to dive back into another movie.
Fans will just have to stay patient for the demon-slaying girl group to return.
