The beloved Yaiba anime is making a comeback with a new reboot titled Yaiba: Samurai Legend, set to premiere this April.

This adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s classic manga, which originally ran in the late 1980s, is taking fans back to the beginning of Yaiba’s journey with updated visuals and a fresh take on the story.

The new reboot is part of Shogakukan’s celebration of its classic franchises, including Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura.

Yaiba: Samurai Legend is set to debut on April 5th in Japan as part of the Spring 2025 anime season. To hype up the launch, the anime has dropped a new trailer along with an eye-catching poster, offering the best look at the upcoming series.

The reboot will follow the wild adventures of Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai with a fiery spirit, as he competes against his rival Takeshi Onimaru, embarking on a journey filled with adventure and spectacle.

The series is directed by Takahiro Hasui at Wit Studio, with an impressive voice cast led by Minami Takayama as Yaiba and new cast additions including Rina Sato, Atsushi Miyauchi, and Kimiko Saito. The opening theme, “Blade” by Blue Encount, can be heard in the trailer, further building excitement for the show’s release.

For fans of the original series or newcomers to Yaiba, the reboot promises to be the perfect opportunity to experience the legend all over again. Don’t miss the premiere this Spring!
