Xiaomi is set to integrate MediaTek’s T90 modem into its upcoming Surge S2 chipset, which will power the Xiaomi 15S Pro.

This move places Xiaomi alongside other top smartphone brands like Google, who are adopting the latest MediaTek modems for improved 5G performance.

The MediaTek T90 modem is based on the advanced “M85” architecture and is expected to support the Release 17 of the 5G 3GPP standard, offering better connectivity and reliability.

Google’s Pixel 10 is also rumored to feature this modem, paired with the Tensor G5 chip. Xiaomi’s Surge S2 will likely use a variant of the T90, customized for its ecosystem.

The Surge S2 marks Xiaomi’s continued effort to develop in-house processors, following the Surge S1. By pairing it with the MediaTek T90 modem, the Surge S2 aims to deliver advanced 5G features, such as faster network speeds and improved efficiency.

This integration will help Xiaomi stay competitive in the premium smartphone market, offering top-notch performance, particularly in 5G connectivity.

MediaTek’s modems have gained popularity for their balance of high performance and energy efficiency, appealing to manufacturers who want to improve battery life without sacrificing speed.

Xiaomi’s decision to use a MediaTek modem in the Surge S2 highlights its confidence in MediaTek’s technology to provide users with a seamless connectivity experience.

With the Surge S2 and MediaTek T90 modem, the Xiaomi 15S Pro is expected to set new standards in connectivity and performance.

This combination positions Xiaomi as a serious contender in the premium smartphone market, pushing the boundaries of 5G technology.
