Xiaomi is set to unveil its latest fitness tracker, the Xiaomi Band 9, on July 19th during CEO Lei Jun’s annual speech.
The new band promises several notable upgrades over its predecessor, the Xiaomi Band 8 while maintaining an affordable price point.
Release Date and Price
The Xiaomi Band 9 has already received regulatory certifications in the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Singapore, indicating an imminent launch. Xiaomi typically releases its new bands in late May or early June, so the Band 9 is expected to hit the market shortly after its July 19th unveiling.
In China, the Xiaomi Band 8 was priced at 239 yuan ($34) for the standard version and 279 yuan ($39) for the NFC model. The Band 9 is expected to follow a similar pricing structure, with a slight increase and a 40 yuan difference between the standard and NFC versions.
Key Specifications
The Xiaomi Band 9 is rumored to feature a 1.62-inch AMOLED display, the same size as the Band 8, but with a significant increase in brightness from 600 nits to 1200 nits. This enhancement ensures better visibility in bright sunlight, making it more convenient for outdoor activities.
Despite the brightness boost, the screen resolution and refresh rate are expected to remain unchanged from the previous model. The Band 9 will support Bluetooth 5.4, offering improved speed and range for a more reliable connection with smartphones and other devices.
In terms of health tracking, the Band 9 boasts a 10% improvement in the accuracy of its SpO2 sensor, providing users with more reliable blood oxygen level readings. The sleep tracking function has also been enhanced, offering tips on how to improve sleep quality based on the user’s tracked sleep data.
The battery capacity has been increased from 233 mAh in the Band 8 to 277 mAh in the Band 9, promising longer battery life. The Band 9 will continue to sync with the Mi Fitness app for comprehensive health and fitness tracking, but it will not support the Zepp app.
The Xiaomi Band 9 builds upon the success of its predecessor by offering a range of upgrades, including a brighter display, improved health tracking, and better connectivity. With an expected price of around 40 Euros, it remains an affordable option for those looking to monitor their fitness and well-being.
