Leaked images of Xiaomi’s upcoming 17 Ultra reveal a major camera redesign and a powerful new 200MP telephoto lens. The prototype, shared online by tech insiders, shows a rectangular rear camera module replacing the circular design used in previous models.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a triple-lens setup, including:
- Main camera: 50MP 1-inch sensor with OIS for low-light and 8K video.
- Telephoto: 200MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom, extendable to 120x hybrid zoom.
- Ultra-wide: 50MP lens with 120° field of view and macro capabilities.
Xiaomi is integrating Leica-tuned optics with AI software to improve image quality. Early internal tests suggest the system performs better in low-light than current competitors, though official ratings are pending.
The phone also includes a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 16GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, and a 7,000mAh battery with fast charging. It retains IP68 dust and water resistance and includes advanced cooling for sustained performance.
At 220g and 8.6mm thick, the device supports a flat display, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and a matte black prototype finish, with other color options expected. Xiaomi plans to launch the phone in China in December 2025, with a global release in early 2026. Pricing starts at ¥7,999 ($1,120) for the base model.
Analysts predict strong demand for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra due to its camera capabilities and large battery. The new design emphasizes quality over the previous quad-camera approach and signals Xiaomi’s focus on photography and videography for high-end users.
