Xiaomi 16 is rumored to come with a periscope telephoto camera, according to leaks from tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo.
This feature, previously available only on the Xiaomi 15 Pro, would improve the phone’s zoom capabilities and allow users to capture distant subjects without losing quality.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro, launched in October 2024, already impressed with its Leica-tuned triple camera setup.
It includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto camera with 10x lossless zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The standard Xiaomi 15 has similar specs but lacks the advanced periscope telephoto lens.
If the Xiaomi 16 includes this feature, it would make it more accessible across the lineup, improving camera versatility and attracting photography enthusiasts.
Xiaomi 15 Series Specification
The Xiaomi 15 series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and runs on HyperOS 2.
The standard model has a 6.36-inch 1.5K OLED display, while the Pro model upgrades to a 2K resolution. Both devices are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.
The Xiaomi 15 has a 5,400mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, while the Pro model comes with a larger 6,100mAh battery and similar charging speeds.
Launch and Availability
The Xiaomi 15 series launched in China at a starting price of CNY 4,499 (around Rs. 52,000). It is expected to arrive in India by March 2025.
If the rumors about the Xiaomi 16 are true, the new model could bring exciting upgrades, especially in camera technology. Fans are eagerly awaiting official details from Xiaomi.
