The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most camera-focused smartphones of the year. A new rumor from a reliable tipster on X has reinforced previous leaks, confirming the device’s high-end camera setup.
While we’ve heard about these specs before, this latest report strengthens expectations that Xiaomi will deliver a photography powerhouse.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a 50 MP main camera using Sony’s 1-inch type Lytia LYT-900 sensor, ensuring top-tier image quality. The 50 MP ultrawide camera will be equipped with Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5 sensor, while the 50 MP 3x optical zoom telephoto camera will utilize Sony’s IMX858 sensor.
However, the biggest upgrade comes with the 200 MP 4.3x optical zoom periscope telephoto camera, which will feature Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 sensor—the same sensor that gained popularity with Vivo’s X100 Ultra and X200 Pro.
In terms of hardware, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will stand at the top of the smartphone camera game, with no real competitors. However, great cameras rely just as much on software and image processing as they do on hardware, so it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi optimizes its software to take full advantage of these sensors.
Beyond the camera, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumored to pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.
It will ship with Android 15 running Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0. The phone is expected to launch in China on February 26, followed by a global debut at MWC in Barcelona a few days later.
