Microsoft has begun rolling out an early version of its Xbox Copilot for Gaming on mobile devices. Xbox testers can now try the Copilot within the Xbox mobile app on iOS and Android.
The Copilot acts as a helpful companion, allowing users to view recent achievements, get game recommendations based on their play history, and ask for tips or guides on completing games.
While the initial release focuses on these features, future updates will let users download and install games on their Xbox consoles through the app.
The AI assistant comes with a customizable voice and a chatbot interface similar to Microsoft’s main Copilot. It can understand your current game and Xbox activity to provide useful answers and relevant links.
Taylor O’Malley, Xbox’s principal program manager, says this mobile Copilot works as a second screen companion without interrupting gameplay. It can answer questions about games, guide players with helpful information, and track achievements.
Microsoft envisions turning Copilot into an AI gaming coach that can assist players in real-time. Earlier demos showed it helping players in games like Overwatch 2 by suggesting strategy tips and in Minecraft by explaining how to craft items.
The Xbox Copilot beta is currently available for testing in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore. However, it is not yet accessible in the UK and most of Europe.
Microsoft plans to add more features, including game downloads and installs, in upcoming updates.
