Microsoft has launched the Xbox app on select LG smart TVs, allowing users to stream and play Xbox games without needing a console.
The app is now available for LG’s 2022 OLED TVs, select 2023 models, and other newer smart TVs and monitors running webOS24 or later.
To use the Xbox app, users need a Bluetooth controller and a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Once set up, gamers can stream titles directly to their TVs through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
On LG’s newest 2025 TVs, the app is already part of the built-in gaming portal. Owners of older compatible models can download it from the LG app store, but will need to install the latest firmware update first.
Microsoft first introduced the Xbox app for TVs on Samsung models in 2022. With this latest rollout, the company is pushing forward with its vision that “every screen can be an Xbox”, offering a console-like experience without the console.
This move is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to expand Xbox Cloud Gaming to as many devices as possible — and now, LG TV owners can join the game.
