Wireless Festival Ends on Sour Note as Drake’s Final Show Lasts 40 Minutes

Drake’s three-day headline residency at London’s Wireless Festival ended on a disappointing note Sunday after his final performance lasted just 40 minutes.

The Canadian rapper appeared on stage ten minutes early but cut his set short, referencing the strict 21:30 curfew that forced organisers to switch off his microphone.

Unlike previous nights, Sunday’s show featured only three special guests—Popcaan, Rema, and Vybz Kartel—leaving many fans feeling shortchanged.

Earlier in the day, the festival’s official schedule had listed two Drake sets, but one mysteriously disappeared, causing confusion among attendees. Despite the shortened headline performance, planned acts from Vybz Kartel and Burna Boy went ahead as scheduled.

Drake began his set with an unreleased collaboration alongside British rapper Central Cee, who did not join him on stage but was seen mouthing lyrics from the crowd. Throughout the performance, Drake appeared apologetic and promised to deliver some of his biggest hits.

He performed remixed versions of tracks like Controlla, Find Your Love, and One Dance, which some fans found rushed and difficult to sing along with.

A highlight was Nigerian rapper Rema’s surprise guest appearance, performing popular songs Calm Down and Fever. Vybz Kartel also made a brief appearance before Drake closed his set with two solo songs.

For the third consecutive night, Drake ended his performance by climbing a crane to wave to the 50,000-strong audience, as Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You played.

Fans expressed frustration on social media and at the venue, with many unaware of the strict local curfew rules limiting showtimes. Some attendees reported waiting longer in queues than they spent watching Drake perform.

Exiting the festival also caused distress, especially for disabled fans who were held in a confined space by security, leading to tense scenes as they pleaded to be allowed to leave.

Drake’s residency had been marked by timing challenges. On Friday, both his and Lauryn Hill’s microphones were cut off at the 22:30 curfew. Saturday’s show ran for a full 90 minutes with 13 special guests, contrasting sharply with the shortened Sunday set.
