Windows 11 Could Soon Let You Continue Android Apps Seamlessly on Desktop

Android Apps on Windows

Microsoft is testing a new Windows 11 feature that lets users resume Android apps directly on their PCs. The tool is being released gradually to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels, with support currently limited to the Spotify app.

The feature works by linking an Android phone to a Windows 11 PC. If a user starts listening to music on Spotify’s mobile app, Windows will show a “Resume from your phone” notification. Selecting the option will open the same song in Spotify’s desktop app, or prompt installation if the app is missing.

Microsoft first previewed this capability during a Build 2025 demo, which was later removed. The function resembles Apple’s Handoff feature, which allows users to continue activities across iPhones, Macs, iPads, and Apple Watches.

While only Spotify is supported for now, the feature could expand to more apps in the future. It may eventually let users switch tasks such as reading articles or writing emails from phone to PC without interruption.
