Will Smith, the acclaimed actor and former rapper, is slated to make his musical return at the upcoming 2024 BET Awards. The network announced that Smith will perform new music during the live broadcast on Sunday, June 30.
Connie Orlando, EVP at BET, expressed excitement about Smith’s performance, calling him a “global icon” and referencing his diverse career from rap to acting. This announcement comes amid the success of Smith’s latest film, “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die,” which has grossed $289 million worldwide.
Smith joins a star-studded lineup including GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, and Ms. Lauryn Hill, among others. Taraji P. Henson will host the event for the third time, while Usher is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 2024 BET Awards, airing live at 8 pm ET/PT, will be part of the returning BET Experience, expanding the celebration into “Culture’s Biggest Weekend.”
