What Pixel is This? Google Drops a Mystery Phone in New Test Video

Google recently shared a blog post detailing the stress, durability, and temperature tests that Pixel phones undergo, including a short video of a drop test.

The four-second clip shows six phones being dropped, but it’s unclear which Pixel model is being tested.

The video shows a phone with a white screen and a centered hole-punch camera, ruling out older models like the Pixel 5a.

It also features a USB-C port and a right-side speaker cutout, eliminating the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, which have the speaker on the left.

The phone might be the Pixel 9a, based on previous leaks suggesting changes to the speaker and SIM card slot layout.

However, the presence of a potential camera bump raises questions, as the Pixel 9a was expected to have a flat rear design. The matte finish and unclear rail design make it even harder to pinpoint the model.

Given Google’s attention to detail in avoiding hardware leaks, this mystery phone could be an upcoming model like the Pixel 8 or 8a.

As Google continues to refine its Pixel designs, the next few generations are likely to feature smaller, more incremental changes.
