New Zealand singer Lorde has achieved her first U.K. No. 1 album with her latest release, Virgin. The album topped the Official Albums Chart dated July 4, 2025, marking a career-best for the artist in the United Kingdom.

Virgin is Lorde’s fourth studio album and has surpassed the chart performance of her previous records. Her debut album Pure Heroine peaked at No. 4 in 2013, Melodrama reached No. 5 in 2017, and Solar Power climbed to No. 2 in 2021.

Reacting to the news, Lorde told the Official Charts Company, “I cannot believe that I’ve got Number 1 in the U.K.! This is absolutely insane. I felt so much love from the U.K. on Virgin. I cannot thank you enough and I cannot wait to see you on the tour very, very soon.”

Lorde surprised fans at Glastonbury Festival on June 27 by performing Virgin in full to open the festival. She will return to the U.K. and Ireland later this year for an arena tour, with a headline show planned at London’s O2 Arena.

In other chart news, Bruce Springsteen earned his 25th top 10 U.K. album with Tracks II: The Lost Albums, a box set featuring 82 previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1983 and 2018.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet reached No. 2 and set a new record for the longest consecutive top five streak for a solo artist album, staying in the top five for 45 weeks. This breaks the previous record of 44 weeks held by Elvis Presley’s G.I. Blues.

Ed Sheeran placed at No. 4 with his +–=÷× (Tour Collection), while Rod Stewart’s Ultimate Hits climbed to No. 5 after his performance in the Legend’s Slot at Glastonbury. He was joined by his former bandmate Ronnie Wood during the set.
