Virgin Island’s only participant to lose his virginity on the show says he is no longer allowed to contact the sex surrogate who helped him.
Dave, 24, took part in the Channel 4 series where a group of people with no sexual experience were guided by experts during a luxury retreat in the Mediterranean.
In the finale aired on May 27, Dave was the only contestant who had sex on the show, with surrogate Kat Slade. The intimate moment was filmed and aired for viewers, and Dave said he got used to being recorded during the experience.
Despite the closeness shared during filming, Dave revealed he hasn’t spoken to Kat since the show ended. The cast were instructed to cut contact with the experts shortly after filming finished.
“It was explained very clearly to us that you don’t stay in touch after – it’s sort of two weeks, and that’s it and then you move on,” Dave told the Daily Mail.
He admitted that detaching from the bond he built with Kat was not easy, but said it was an important lesson to feel those emotions and then let go.
Dave clarified he was never in love with Kat, but grew a lot of respect for her.
“I obviously wasn’t in love with her or anything,” he said. “But I respected her greatly.”
Six months after filming wrapped, Dave met his new girlfriend who has watched some episodes of the show. He said she doesn’t worry about him having feelings for Kat anymore.
The show gave Dave a big personal breakthrough, but the rules around contact with surrogates meant he had to move on after the experience.
