US Faces 60% Chance of Recession in Next 12 Months, Economist Warns

The U.S. economy may be heading toward a downturn. Peter Berezin, chief global strategist at BCA Research, says there is a 60% chance of a recession in the next year.

Berezin warns that rising unemployment and slowing job growth are major concerns. He also says consumer spending, which drives much of the U.S. economy, is weakening. These trends could push the country into a recession by mid-2026.

There are some positive signs. Inflation has eased, and the Federal Reserve may lower interest rates to support growth. Still, Berezin believes these actions might not be enough to prevent a slowdown.

If a recession happens, it could lead to job losses and less business activity. Both companies and households may face harder times. Berezin advises watching the economy closely and preparing for possible challenges ahead.
