The upcoming movie Wicked: For Good will not feature Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. Both actors played key roles in the original Wicked Broadway show.

They appeared briefly in the first Wicked film as special cameos. However, Chenoweth recently said in an interview that neither she nor Menzel will appear in the sequel.

Chenoweth explained, “It’s their time. We had our moment and we were very honored they included us, but it’s their turn.”

The new movie focuses on the fresh cast, led by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who played Glinda and Elphaba in the first film. Other cast members returning include Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Jonathan Bailey.

The first Wicked film included a fun cameo by Chenoweth and Menzel as a special Easter egg for fans. But the sequel will take a more serious tone and continue the story toward The Wizard of Oz. The new cast is expected to carry the story well.

Wicked: For Good will release on November 21, 2025, with Jon M. Chu directing.
