Kendrick Lamar has made history by replacing himself at the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with his track “TV Off” featuring Lefty Gunplay.
The song jumps from No. 2 to No. 1 on the chart dated December 14, knocking Lamar’s own “Squabble Up” to No. 3.
This achievement is from Lamar’s latest album, GNX, which also continues its reign at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Despite a 26% drop in streams from the previous week, “TV Off” is the most-streamed R&B/hip-hop song, and it claims the top spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart.
It also ranks No. 2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and enters the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart at No. 25.
“TV Off” quickly became a fan favorite, especially due to Lamar’s viral shoutout to producer Mustard.
In addition to topping the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, it also claims the No. 1 position on Hot Rap Songs and climbs to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, despite Mariah Carey and Brenda Lee’s holiday classics taking the top spots.
This is Lamar’s sixth No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Here’s a look at his previous chart-toppers:
For featured artist Lefty Gunplay, “TV Off” marks his first No. 1 on the chart, following his debut on the Billboard charts just a week ago.
Lamar’s latest feat places him among the 17 artists who have replaced themselves at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Just a month ago, Tyler, The Creator joined this list.
Kendrick Lamar continues to solidify his place as one of the biggest names in music with his chart-topping hits and record-breaking performances.
