Travis Scott has released Jackboys 2, the long-awaited follow-up to his Cactus Jack compilation, during a weekend already filled with rap headlines. The timing of the album’s arrival overlaps with the release of Clipse’s new album, Let God Sort Em Out, which has fueled speculation of a brewing rivalry between the two camps.
The tension stems from recent comments made by Pusha T, one half of Clipse. On the Clipse track “So Be It”, Pusha criticized Travis for promoting his ties to Pharrell during the rollout of Utopia, only to later include Drake—who dissed Pharrell and Clipse on the same album. In a GQ interview, Pusha called Travis “a whore” who lacks loyalty and moral integrity.
Until now, Travis Scott had not responded publicly. However, the first track of Jackboys 2, titled “Champain & Vacay,” appears to contain a subtle reply. In his verse, Travis raps:
“Man these old n-ggas kill me / Know my YNs feel me…
Blue Bugatti, dodgin TMZ / Made a hundred off of pushin tees / Now my phone on DND.”
The lyrics seem to reference Pusha T directly, using wordplay on his name while framing him as part of an older generation critical of younger artists. The “dodgin TMZ” line could also be a nod to Pusha’s warning in “So Be It”, where he claimed he spared Travis from possible media fallout by not leaking damaging footage.
Despite this possible jab, the album overall avoids directly addressing Clipse, Pusha T, or Pharrell. Some fans believe this signals that Scott is choosing not to escalate the feud.
Adding to the intrigue, Travis announced Jackboys 2 just two days before its release, lining it up directly against Clipse’s new project. In a recent Breakfast Club interview, Pusha and his brother Malice acknowledged the overlap and encouraged fans to listen to both albums and decide for themselves.
Jackboys 2 features a range of guest artists including Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, SoFaygo, Future, Playboi Carti, 21 Savage, GloRilla, Kodak Black, Tyla, and Vybz Kartel. The album opens with a spoken introduction from rap veteran Bun B and spans 17 tracks.
