A transgender man has been accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend while wearing a prosthetic penis, a court heard.
Zanab Jamshaid, 20, allegedly used the device during a two-year relationship, even when the woman begged him to stop.
The Hove Crown Court heard that Jamshaid, who was born female but later identified as a man, met the woman at college. Their relationship reportedly began well but deteriorated after the alleged victim discovered Jamshaid had cheated.
Prosecutors said Jamshaid became controlling and violent. He allegedly locked the woman in a bathroom for a day, strangled her, punched her, and hit her with a wine bottle. On one occasion, he scratched a “Z” into her leg.
One of the alleged assaults occurred at a hotel in Woking in April 2023. The complainant told police Jamshaid had the prosthetic penis at all times and used it during the attack despite her saying no. Another assault allegedly took place in October 2023.
In February 2024, the woman ended the relationship because of Jamshaid’s controlling and violent behaviour. She later returned home one night and allegedly faced further assault, even after using a “safe word” they had agreed on.
Jamshaid has pleaded not guilty to 14 charges, including assault by penetration, common assault by beating, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The trial is ongoing.
