Meta’s Threads app is rolling out an improved search feature aimed at making it easier for users to find specific posts.
The new functionality allows users to filter search results by user profiles and date ranges, helping them locate content more precisely.
While this update is not as extensive as the advanced search features offered by X, it brings Threads’ search more in line with Bluesky, which also offers similar filtering options.
Previously, Threads search was fairly limited, allowing users to search by keywords with just two filtering options: “Top” posts with the most engagement and “Recent” posts. This update makes Threads’ search experience more robust, offering greater flexibility in how users search for content.
This move comes as Meta works to strengthen Threads in response to the growing popularity of Bluesky. The social network, which had around 9 million users in September, has seen its user base skyrocket, reaching nearly 24 million in recent weeks.
The surge is largely attributed to users leaving X due to dissatisfaction with its policies and ownership under Elon Musk.
In addition to improving search, Meta has introduced other features in Threads, such as the ability for users to choose their default feed and an updated algorithm.
The company is also working on a feature similar to Bluesky’s user-curated recommendation lists, called Starter Packs, to keep up with the competition.
With these updates, Meta is aiming to make Threads a more compelling alternative to both X and Bluesky, offering users a more refined social media experience.
