Bad Bunny is having a HUGE 2026. The Puerto Rican rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, just made history by winning the Grammy for Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. He’s also set to perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
But before all this, Bad Bunny almost became a superhero. Yep, he was set to star as El Muerto, a little-known Marvel character, in his own Spider-Man spin-off movie.
Sony Pictures announced the project back in April 2022. They were impressed with Bad Bunny’s acting in Bullet Train and thought he would be perfect as El Muerto, a Mexican wrestler with super strength and a magical mask. Fans were excited, especially since Bad Bunny is also a wrestling fan who’s even competed in WWE matches.
So, why didn’t it happen? Well… the character was super obscure, the movie was risky, and production delays kept piling up. The WGA strike and Bad Bunny’s busy touring schedule meant the film never got off the ground.
By September 2023, Bad Bunny confirmed he wouldn’t play El Muerto anymore. Sony tried to restart development in early 2024, but after a string of underperforming Spider-Man spin-offs, the project seems completely dead.
Even though Bad Bunny won’t be fighting crime on the big screen, he’s still smashing it in music and entertainment. And honestly… we’re kind of glad he’s sticking to what he’s best at.
