The Colossal Titan ― Attack on Titan

Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan is known for its menacing Titans, and the Colossal Titan is one of the most iconic.

Initially, its design was complex but simple compared to later versions. However, Isayama’s obsession with a $2.5k figurine of the Colossal Titan led him to tweak its appearance in the manga.

In an interview, Isayama admitted that the figurine’s intricate details inspired him to update the Titan’s design to match its impressive mold.

He said, “I’ll never get tired of it… the next time the Colossal Titan appeared, I tweaked the design to better match the figurine.”

This wasn’t the only Titan to evolve as the series progressed. Isayama’s growing artistic skill led to more defined anatomical structures and dynamic fight scenes, making the Titans even more terrifying.

The Colossal Titan’s redesign is just one example of how Attack on Titan’s world and characters continued to improve.
