The Dark Reality Behind ‘Squid Game’ Season 2

Squid Games Season 2 (Netflix)

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk says Season 2 reflects today’s political and social divisions.

Speaking at a press conference in Seoul, he linked the show’s themes to South Korea’s recent martial law declaration and global conflicts.

Hwang explained that the new season highlights how polarized societies have become.

A major change in the show is that participants now vote after each round, adding tension and mirroring real-world decision-making.

Lead actor Lee Jung-jae shared that his character, Gi-hun, undergoes a significant transformation, while Lee Byung-hun, who plays the Front Man, emphasized the show’s universal appeal.

Season 2 of Squid Game premieres on December 26, promising deeper storytelling and timely social commentary.
