The Boys’ Creator Says Goodbye as Final Season Wraps Production

The Boys,” Amazon Prime’s popular superhero series, has completed filming for its fifth and final season. Show creator and showrunner Eric Kripke made the announcement on Instagram, marking the end of an era for the hit show.

“This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set,” Kripke wrote. “It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude. We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. To [‘The Boys’] family: thank you, I love you all. To the fans: thanks for watching, can’t wait for you to see the grand finale. That’s a wrap.”

“The Boys,” which first premiered in 2019, is based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The story follows a group of vigilantes trying to take down corrupt superheroes. Its cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Nathan Mitchell.

Over its four previous seasons, “The Boys” earned one Emmy Award for outstanding stunt coordination and seven nominations overall.

At a discussion panel in December, Kripke shared how writing the last season allowed for more creative freedom. “It’s really fun when it’s the end. You can blow the doors off it in a really exciting way,” he said.

Fans now await the release of the final episodes that will bring the acclaimed series to its conclusion.
