Taylor Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department has returned to No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart for the ninth non-consecutive week, according to the Official Charts Company (Dec. 6).
This success comes after the release of the Anthology edition on Nov. 29. The edition includes 31 songs and acoustic versions, available on physical formats and streaming platforms.
The album’s physical sales made up 79% of its total sales for the week. It also claimed the top spot on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
Originally released in April, The Tortured Poets Department marked Swift’s 12th No. 1 LP in the U.K., tying her with Madonna for the most No. 1 albums. The album was also ranked in Billboardโs 50 Best Albums of 2024.
Upon its initial release, The Tortured Poets Department set multiple U.K. records. It became the fastest-selling album in more than seven years and the fastest-selling vinyl since 1994.
Earlier this week, Swift was named Apple Music and Spotifyโs most-streamed artist of the year, with The Tortured Poets Department being the most-streamed album.
In the rest of the top five, Sabrina Carpenterโs Short nโ Sweet landed at No. 2, while Kendrick Lamarโs surprise album GNX dropped to No. 3.
Michael Bublรฉ’s Christmas was at No. 4, and Juice WRLDโs posthumous album The Party Never Ends finished at No. 5. This is the third studio album from the late rapper since his passing in 2019.
Fontaines D.C.โs Romance rose 15 places to No. 13 after the start of their U.K. and Ireland tour. The album reached No. 2 in August, but it was edged out by Carpenterโs album at the time.
