Switch 2 Screen Comes With Protective Layer—Leave It On, Says Nintendo

Nintendo has issued a warning to users of its upcoming Switch 2 console: do not peel off the screen’s pre-applied protective film.

According to the official instruction manual, the LCD screen includes a film layer designed to prevent shards from scattering if the screen is damaged.

This safety feature is found under the manual’s “careful usage” section. Nintendo explicitly states, “Do not peel it off.”

This type of film was also included in the previous OLED version of the Switch. While the built-in layer offers some protection against breakage, Nintendo will also sell screen protectors.

These are intended to guard against scratches and debris and are available alongside official accessories like the carry case.

The Switch 2 manual is now available online, ahead of the console’s release.
