James Gunn’s Superman has made a major mark at the box office, earning $502.7 million worldwide after just three weekends.
The film has made $289.5 million in the U.S. and Canada and $213.2 million internationally. With a production budget of $225 million, the movie is now on track to become profitable.
So far, Superman is the highest-grossing superhero film of 2025. It has made more than Marvel’s Thunderbolts ($382.1 million) and Captain America: Brave New World ($415.1 million).
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which opened on July 25, has made $106 million globally and may rise in the coming weeks.
Domestically, Superman also beat the opening numbers of recent DC films. It outperformed Black Adam ($67 million opening), Shazam! Fury of the Gods ($30.1 million), and The Flash ($55 million). Its third weekend performance shows the film is staying strong in theaters.
While Superman is doing well this year, it still falls short of past superhero blockbusters. Avengers: Endgame earned $2.8 billion, and Spider-Man: No Way Home made $1.9 billion globally.
However, for a film designed to reboot the DC Universe, its current success is a strong start.
