Squid Game Season 2: Gi-hun & Front Man

In a recent Hot Ones interview, Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun addressed three major fan theories about the upcoming season 3 of the hit Netflix series.

Fans have been eagerly speculating about the future of the deadly games, and Jung-jae and Byung-hun’s playful responses have only fueled the excitement.

The Three Theories Discussed

The fan theories discussed during the interview included:

  1. The island is actually a ship.
  2. Gi-Hun is the son of Oh Il-nam.
  3. The Front Man is an undercover cop.

When asked to confirm whether any of these theories were true, Byung-hun quickly dismissed all three, saying, “Honestly, none were correct.”

However, his cryptic comments and refusal to reveal more about season 3’s plot left fans wondering if he was hiding something.

A Playful Exchange

The exchange between Jung-jae and Byung-hun was both humorous and revealing. Jung-jae insisted that Byung-hun should eat a spicy wing for avoiding the question, which led to Byung-hun jokingly teasing that the ending of season 3 would involve a dramatic reveal: “Front Man will… to your character… will take off his mask and say… I’m your father.” While it was clearly a joke, the playful banter only adds to the mystery surrounding the next season.

Theories and Speculation

One of the most intriguing theories dismissed by Byung-hun was that the island where the games take place could actually be a ship. This idea has gained traction among fans, especially since Hwang Jun-ho, the detective searching for his brother (the Front Man), never managed to find the location of the games.

Another theory that has gained attention is that the Front Man might be the son of Oh Il-nam, the creator of the games who died in season 1. Some fans have speculated that the Front Man shares a connection with Gi-Hun or Il-nam, partly due to their shared dislike of regular milk.

What This Means for Season 3

Though Byung-hun dismissed the fan theories, his reluctance to spoil season 3 and his cryptic comments have left fans with more questions than answers. As Squid Game continues to captivate audiences with its dark commentary on capitalism and human nature, the mystery surrounding season 3 only grows.

Whether or not these theories hold any truth, one thing is certain: fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Squid Game.
