Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 dominated 2024 viewership, becoming the most-watched series in a single week with a staggering 4.9 billion minutes watched between December 23 and December 29, according to Nielsen.

The Korean deathmatch drama, which premiered its second season on December 26, saw over 4 billion minutes attributed to the new episodes alone, while the remaining viewership came from fans revisiting Season 1.

The series outperformed other popular titles like Virgin River (2.2 billion minutes), Red One (1.8 billion minutes), and Carry-On (1.5 billion minutes).

Squid Game Season 2 also set a new record for Netflix, becoming the platform’s biggest TV debut ever with 68 million views in its first four days and 126.2 million views within 11 days.

This unprecedented success cements Squid Game as a global phenomenon, with both seasons continuing to dominate Netflix’s non-English TV charts.
